Illustration for an article titled "Finding Your Anchor: The Art of Floating in a Turbulent World".
I immediately feel the music as my own anchor so I decided to represent a gothic girl floating peacefully on a dark ocean with her headphones plugged in the lifebuoy.
The intricate tattoos, especially in the gothic horror style, represent the subject's unique identity and personal experiences. Girl's aesthetic reminds to the metal music, often perceived as dark and melancholic, that actually represent a powerful escape and refuge for many.
The title of this work "Goth da life" play with the title of Korn's famous song "Got the life". The song, with its aggressive sounds and lyrics that speak of disillusionment and searching for meaning, pairs perfectly with the gothic visual of the illustration. My title, however, inverts the meaning: while the song expresses a sense of rage and alienation, the image suggests that through music salvation can be found.
